Always one of the classy Cork forwards, the lethal John Fitzgibbon, Ger Fitzgerald and Mark Foley, (who hit 2-7) overcame Tipperary in Thurles in 1990. 'Donkeys don't win derbies' was a famous Babs Keating line taken out of context in relation to the game which led to much controversy. Unlimately Cork beat the favourites Tipperary and the rebels went on to win the double in Croke Park with teddy MacCarthy part of the hurling and football teams.
