The traditionally strong parties have two well-known candidates from the area. Declan Burgess of Fine Gael, who is heavily involved in local sports clubs and various committees, was elected in 2019. John Cross and Mary Hourigan as well as newcomer Matthew Fogarty all run this time.
The people will have spoken to politicians at the doorsteps and will have their say in the election now, so how will the Fine Gael team fare in what is a new look election without Michael Fitzgerald ?
