Rock diva Shannon wins latest Comeragh’s Got Talent show

Sixty talented students from Comeragh College reprised their pop star performances during an extra night of the school’s hugely successful X-factor style talent contest.

Sixty talented students from Comeragh College reprised their pop star performances during an extra night of the school’s hugely successful X-factor style talent contest.

The school staged two sell-out “Comeragh’s Got Talent” shows at the CBS Primary School Hall last November and due to popular demand it decided to put on an extra show this month at The Strand Theatre.

The 400-seat theatre was sold out for the show on Friday, January 18 that featured 60 Comeragh College students from 1st years to 6th years. The performers thrilled the audience with a wide range of singing and dance acts all judged by the show’s Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

As with the two previous Comeragh’s Got Talent shows, an overall winner was chosen by the judges at the end of the show.

The winner was 2nd year student Shannon Hayes, who along with backing singers Olivia Shanahan and Caoimhe Walsh performed Emilie Sande’s “Next to Me” in a style worthy of any rock diva.

The talent shows in November were won by Caoimhe Walsh from 3rd Year and 6th year students Jamie O’Brien and Scott Murphy.

Comeragh College PRO Katherine Cahill said this extra show was the result of huge team effort from students and staff at the school.

She particularly paid tribute to Comeragh College music teacher Emily O’Dwyer, who spearheaded the Comeragh’s Got Talent shows.

Proceeds from Comeragh’s Got Talent at The Strand Theatre will go towards the purchase of a defibrillator for Comeragh College.
