There were unsavoury scenes during a South Tipperary U19 Championship match in Cloneen on Wednesday evening last, with six red cards being brandished during the clash between Ballingarry and Mullinahone.

Ugly scenes on the stroke of half-time led to six players evenly spread between the clubs being red-carded during the interval, which meant the game had to be finished with 12 players aside.

According to spectators in attendance, referee Paul Guinan of Killenaule had considered abandoning the game after the incident but was convinced by management on both sides to finish the game.

The contest continued and Ballingarry eventually won out on a scoreline of 1-23 to 1-10 but this game will be remembered for something other than the result.
