PREVIEW: Premier Intermediate fare has outcomes up in the air ahead of round 3 weekend

The Premier Intermediate Championship reaches the end of the group stages this weekend

PREVIEW:

Group 3

Newport V Boherlahan Dualla

Newport are still in with a chance of avoiding the relegation scrap for the second straight year but will need a significantly improved performance to achieve that feat.

They were taken apart by Clonakenny in the second half in round two and they are far too reliant on Colin Floyd for scores at this level.

Boherlahan seems to have the better form and overall spread of scoring contributions, and despite a disappointing loss to Thurles Sarsfields on the last day out, they will be hoping they can secure a quarter-final spot in their debut season at this level.

Verdict: Boherlahan Dualla

Clonakenny V Thurles Sarsfields

Thurles Sarsfields continues to set the pace in their efforts to go one better this year. They have been most convincing in their wins so far, hitting big point totals in their two wins and they will want to finish the group with a 100 percent record.

The return of Pa Bourle is a monumental addition and it could prove to be critical down the line, but they must still get past a Cian O’Dwyer-inspired Clonakenny who finished strongly against Newport.

The return of Peadar Byrne on the last day was a big boost and it will make this game all the closer.

Verdict: Thurles Sarsfields
