Paid parking will return soon to car park in Tipperary

It’s hoped that the broken barrier at the Mary Street car park in Clonmel town’s centre will be operating again in the next week or so.

District Engineer Nicola Keating told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District that the contractor who was appointed to repair it was waiting for a part for the barrier.

The barrier has been out of action for the past couple of months, meaning that parking has been free in the car park during that time.

District Mayor Michael Murphy said there was a lot of frustration with the absence of paid parking in the Mary Street car park. It was difficult for motorists to find a space there from early in the morning.

Cllr Richie Molloy said it was very difficult for shoppers to get in there because cars were parked for the whole day.
