West Tipperary GAA complete summer championships as new competitions commence

The junior B championship is finished as the Under 21 hurling and junior football competitions take centre stage this October

Tipp underage star pilfers 0-18 in West U19A Final as Cashel claim honours after extra time

Cashel KC and Golden K battle it out in the under 19 championship final.

It has been a hugely busy few west across the county in terms of matches and now we focus on the games played in west Tipperary.
Francis Coughlan west assistant PRO gives the following update on the GAA action. 

West Junior B Hurling Championship
The 32nd Tipperary Co-Op West Junior B Hurling Championship Final took place on Wednesday last in Clonoulty with Cappawhite coming out on top after extra-time, 2-16 to 2-13 for a fifth title in the grade.

County Championship
Both West sides were in County quarter final action on Saturday last in Golden. West champions Cappawhite booked their semi-final spot defeating South runners up St. Patrick’s 3-15 to 0-11.
There was no such joy for Eire Og who lost out to South champions Cahir, 2-14 to 2-12. In the remaining two quarter finals, Newport defeated Thurles Gaels 2-21 to 0-14 while Silvermines defeated Holycross Ballycahill, 3-22 to 3-14.

West Junior B Football Championship
The Shane Hennessy Agri-Advisor West Junior B Football Championship resumes this Tuesday October 1st  with the second of the semi-finals between Rosegreen and Eire Og Annacarty Donohill in New Inn at 7.30pm. Finish on the day rules will apply.
The winners will face Aherlow in the Final. Eire Og have reached the last four deciders in the competition. Rosegreen last qualified for the final in 2020.

The West finalists will be in action again this Sunday October 6th. With the West final not having been played the West will nominate for the purposes of winners and runners up.
The nominated West winners will play Grangemockler Ballyneale in Fethard at 12 noon. The nominated West runners up will take on Clonmel Commercials in Golden at 12 noon.

The other two quarter finals are fixed for Saturday October 5th Burgess v Boherlahan Dualla/Thurles Gaels 2pm Toomevara Boherlahan Dualla/Thurles Gaels v Ballina 3.45pm Toomevara

West U21 Hurling Championships
The draws for this year’s West U21 Hurling championships took place in Golden on Friday evening.

County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship
The semi-finals for the FBD Insurance County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship took place last weekend with Cashel King Cormacs representing the West.

Semi-Finals:
Cashel King Cormacs needed extra-time before getting the better of Upperchurch Drombane, 6-21 to 2-28 in Semple Stadium to book their place in this year’s final.

On Sunday Carrick Swans defeated Gortnahoe Glengoole 0-18 to 0-14 at Semple Stadium to take the second spot in the final.

Relegation Final
Sean Treacys and Newport will have to do it all over again after drawing, 2-15 to 1-18 at Nenagh on Sunday last.

County Intermediate Hurling Championship
The semi- finals of the FBD Insurance County Intermediate Hurling Championship took place last weekend with two West teams involved.

Golden/Kilfeacle just came up short in their quest for a second County Final appearance in a row when defeated by Ballingarry, 1-13 to 2-9 at Leahy Park Cashel on Sunday.

Cappawhite playing in a first semi-final since 2017 also came up just short, going down to Moneygall 1-17 to 1-15 at the Ragg.

There was no joy for Arravale Rovers in the 4th FBD Insurance County U19B Hurling Championship Final on Saturday last in Kilcommon, going down to Kilruane MacDonaghs, 1-22 to 1-16.
It was a first title for the North side.

The FBD Insurance County Intermediate Football Championship semi-finals take place this weekend with four West teams in action.

County Semi-Finals
Galtee Rovers v Golden/Kilfeacle 04/10/2024 New Inn 7.30pm
Galtee Rovers will be contesting a third semi-final in four seasons as they aim to reach a first County Final in the grade.
They were defeated at this stage in 2023 and 2021 on both occasions to Grangemockler Ballyneale.
Golden/Kilfeacle will be contesting a fourth semi-final in nine seasons. They have been defeated on their last two semi-final outings in 2022 and 2019 to Mullinahone and Moycarkey Borris respectively. They last reached the final in 2018.

The FBD Insurance County Premier Junior Football Championship semi-finals also take place this Saturday as a double header in Pairc Ciocaim, Dundrum.

County Junior A Football Championship
The remaining quarter final of the FBD Insurance County Junior A Football championship took place on Sunday last with West champions Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams booking their place in the semi-finals following a 3-4 to 0-9 victory over Ballylooby Castlegrace in Bansha.

The draw for the semi-finals took place on Sunday evening.

Kiladangan v Boherlahan Dualla Saturday October 5th 5pm Templemore

Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams travel to Bansha this Saturday October 5th to face South champions St. Patrick’s in the County semi-final with a 1pm throw in. Finish on the day rules will apply.
Kickhams will be contesting at this stage for the first time since time since 2021.
It will be the second time Kickhams will have faced South opposition at the County semi-final stage of the competition, having defeated Carrick Swans at this stage in 2021. They have an amazing record of five wins and no losses in the County Junior A Football semi-finals.

St. Patrick’s will be contesting a second semi-final in a row having bowed put at this stage in 2023 to eventual winners Sean Treacys. They will be looking to reach a first County Final since 2005 when they were defeated by Rockwell Rovers.

County U19A Football Championship
Golden/Kilfeacle will face South champions Clonmel Commercials in the County semi-final with the fixture details to be confirmed.
The first of the semi-finals took place took place on Wednesday last with JK Brackens defeating Newport, 4-7 to 1-6 at Drombane.

County U19B Football Championship
Arravale Rovers will play Clonmel Og in the FBD Insurance County U19B Football Championship semi-final this Saturday October 5th at 3pm in Cahir.
Finish on the day rules will apply.
Both sides will be playing in a first County semi-final in the grade.

The first of the semi-finals took place on Wednesday last in Templemore where Moyne Templetuohy defeated Moneygall/Clonakenny, 3-15 to 0-7.

Match Tickets 
Tickets will be available to purchase for your club championship game through the Tipperary GAA Website or by the link below. No cash sales at the ground.  
 
Tipperary GAA operates a policy of cashless games, so all ticket must be pre-purchased. It will not be possible to turn up on the day and buy a ticket using cash. We ask that you make every effort to ensure that your supporters are aware of this. The county Board would also ask  clubs to remind patrons to have their tickets downloaded on their phone before they leave home. Patrons can also print their ticket and bring it to the game. Under 16's are free of charge and do not require a ticket. All other patrons must present with a ticket.  A credit card machine will also be available. Purchase of tickets beforehand is advisable as there could be queues at the credit card machine.

Tipperary Masters
The Tipperary Masters Hurling team made it four from four following a 9-30 to 1-11 victory over Limerick in Borrisoleigh on Saturday last.

They are in action again in round 5 against Wexford with the fixture details to be confirmed.
