Knockmealdown Active
Two community groups based in Tipperary were honoured at the prestigious Pride of Place community awards on Saturday evening (November 2) at a gala ceremony in Monaghan.
Knockmealdown Active took first place in the Community Well-Being Initiative category, with judges praising the hard work they witnessed.
“It was difficult to come to terms with the sheer scope of activities and events now organised by this resolute group.

“The judges received a very warm welcome, an excellent presentation and a memorable visit to the wild outdoors.
“Significant grant funding, involvement of the wider community and a huge volunteer component have all contributed to the success of this initiative. This social enterprise is making a difference in the wellbeing of locals and visitors.”
Elsewhere, The Sounds of Semple, Templemore, were runners up in the Creative Communities category. They lost out to Laragh Gala Variety Show, Co. Cavan
