ESB Networks teams have said that they are continuing to restore electricity supply, with 59,000 customers currently impacted.
As of 5:15pm on Sunday January 5 approximately 59,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power, predominantly in counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois and Wicklow.
With Met Éireann Status Orange and Yellow warnings remaining in place until this evening and the dynamic nature of this event, further power outages can be expected.

The ESB anticipate power restoration will take a number of days in those areas that are worst affected due to the hazardous weather conditions and accessibility challenges.
They said in a statement: "Our crews will continue the restoration for as long as possible this evening but, with the difficult conditions, it is likely that the majority of customers will not have their power restored tonight."
Some areas of Tipperary hat have been affected may not have power restored until 9pm tonight, at the earliest.
