Thurles Town Councillor Michael Cleary is ( at the time of going to press) the only sitting council member going forward for the Fine Gael Selection Convention for the new Thurles Templemore area in Clonmore on Monday next.
The former Mayor of the town will be hoping to secure his name on the election ticket in time for the May election and with outgoing councillors Pauline Coonan and Denis Ryan not standing, the party will be losing out on some valuable experience in the constituency. “I am hoping to get the nomination to contest the election and hopefully represent Fine Gael in the election and the people of the Thurles Templemore area in the new council from June 2014 onwards,” Cllr. Cleary said.
