Cashel Community School is stepping into the spotlight with creativity, colour, and a strong sustainability message as it takes part in this year’s Junk Kouture competition.

The school will showcase five original costumes, each telling a unique story through recycled design: Bits & Pieces Symphony, Heart of the Sea, Majestique Natura, Find Space in Your Heart, and Delirium in Wonderland.

Speaking with the school, the designers explained how they created their entries this year.

"Every piece has been carefully crafted from an imaginative assortment of reused materials. Old musical instruments were transformed into striking details, while glass lenses, shells, fishing nets, and playing cards found new life as fashion elements. CDs, plastic, net curtains, and both real and artificial flowers were also incorporated, proving that discarded objects can be re-imagined into something truly spectacular."

The collection reflects not only artistic talent but also a deep awareness of environmental responsibility. Through texture, movement, and symbolism, the students explore themes of nature, emotion, fantasy, and sustainability.

Cashel Community School’s Junk Kouture entry is a celebration of innovation, teamwork, and the transformative power of creativity—turning “junk” into couture.

The students will now have to wait patiently to see if their design has been selected for the Regional Finals, which will take place in March 2026.
