A secondary school in Tipperary is aiming to grow, having put forward an ambitious expansion plan to the council.
The Tipperary Education and Training Board has requested permission from Tipperary County Council to construct four extensions at Coláiste Dún Iascaigh. The proposed additions will expand the school by 2,500 square metres, creating new spaces for a variety of uses. The first extension, rising to both one and two storeys on the west side, will feature four classrooms dedicated to students with special needs, six general classrooms, four specialist subject rooms, and three spaces for special education teachers and specialist education students.

The second and third extensions will introduce new rooms designed for technology classes, opening up more opportunities for hands-on learning. The fourth extension will provide much-needed storage space.
Plans also call for new vehicle gates in the service yard, a sheltered storage area, and an upgraded car park with extra spaces and a dedicated drop-off zone for students with special needs.
Tipperary County Council is expected to decide on the proposed expansion by March 25.
