Over 1,000 guests are expected to descend on Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) this Saturday, 31st of May, for the launch of its final year graduate exhibition.

A Tipperary student will show his final degree project at the launch of the Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) final year exhibition, which takes place this Saturday, May 31.

Darragh Ryan from Nenagh, Co Tipperary, is a graduate of Print and Contemporary Practice.

Darragh's work is titled “Why is everything I do a self portrait” and includes the use of boards, canvas, layering, paint, and spray paint.

The week-long event has been attracting thousands of visitors since the school’s inception in 1852, due to the LSAD’s reputation as one of Europe’s prestigious fine-art, design, and creative media schools.

This annual exhibition celebrates the vision and innovation of LSAD’s emerging talent and showcases the extraordinary work by both Irish and international emerging artists and designers.

The LSAD 2025 Graduate Show, at the Clare Street Campus, Limerick, will be officially launched by Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD at 3 pm, with doors open to the public from 1 pm –5 pm. The show will run daily from May 31st to June 8th, between 10 am to 5 pm.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dean of LSAD and Director of Cultural Engagement at TUS, Mike Fitzpatrick, remarked: "Every year we are so excited to showcase the creativity and innovation of our LSAD students, who are the next generation of Irish artists and Designers. We look forward to welcoming thousands of guests through our doors throughout the exhibition. We would encourage everyone to take some time to enjoy the collections and works from our animators, filmmakers, fashion, graphic, ceramic, and interior designers and fine artists. There are so many inspiring works, stories, and ideas to marvel at. PS: Bring your friends and future little creatives. "

Visitors to the exhibition will view an array of projects from a multitude of disciplines, including Fine Art, Fashion, Animation, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Game Art and Design, Interior Design, Ceramics, Photography, Sculpture, Film, Music Technology, and the Bachelor of Education in Art & Design.

Awards
A special highlight of the opening day is the Awards Ceremony at 3 pm, where excellence and innovation across disciplines will be recognised. Among the honours to be announced is the prestigious Carmody-Mitchell Global Travel Award – a €5,000 prize supporting the international ambitions of a graduating Fine Art student. Funded through philanthropic support and unique to LSAD in Ireland, this transformative opportunity is awarded by a panel of esteemed curators and artists.

This will be the third year of the award, with past recipients including Asha Murray (2023) and Tina O’Connell (2024).

Awards will also be presented across multiple disciplines for outstanding creativity, innovation, residency opportunities, and academic achievement, including industry-sponsored awards for Graphic Design Communication, Animation and Motion Design, Ceramics, Interior Design Students of the Year, and Spacecraft Artist Residency Award.
