A number of car thefts and attempted thefts have been reported in the Nenagh area in recent days, with several incidents shared widely on social media.

The first report began circulating online on Wednesday morning, 28 January, after a maroon Nissan was stolen from outside its owner’s home in Borrisokane. The vehicle was later found burnt out in Ballinasloe that night, according to posts shared online.

The following day, reports emerged on Facebook of another vehicle stolen in Co Clare and subsequently recovered in the Nenagh area after a tracking device installed in the car was activated.

On Saturday morning, 31 January, a local resident shared footage from a Ring doorbell camera which appeared to show a number of individuals searching a car parked outside their home at approximately 4am.

It is not known whether the incidents are connected. However, the number of similar reports in the area over a short period has raised concerns among local residents.

Anyone with information in relation to these incidents is asked to contact Nenagh Garda Station. Members of the public are also being urged to remain vigilant and to ensure that vehicles and homes are secured overnight.
