Retention planning is being sought, with an agent for Utmasta stressing that the planning is only for an extension of an existing system

Retention planning is being sought for Dundrum House Hotel for a wastewater treatment system; the planning application comes on foot of a warning letter issued from Tipperary County Council in April 2025, although further meetings have been carried out since then.

An agent acting on behalf of Utmasta Limited clarified in the application that the system “did not establish a new wastewater treatment” but only upgraded the existing one.

The current system is designed to cater for about 800 people, where there are about 162 living there at the moment.

The medium-term intention is to increase occupation “progressively towards approximately 300 persons”, including 15 staff.

A report with the application noted that its purpose was to “provide a clear record of the historical wastewater treatment arrangements at the site, including these upgrades.
