Tipperary GAA have expressed their sincere sympathy following the death of Noel ‘Barney’ Hogan of Roscrea, a man remembered as a distinguished figure in the county’s hurling history.

A native of Roscrea, Noel Hogan captained the Tipperary Minor hurlers during the 1961 championship campaign, a memorable year that culminated in Munster Final success over Cork. His leadership and skill at underage level marked him out as a hurler of exceptional quality.

Noel went on to enjoy a highly successful career at senior club level, highlighted by winning an All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling title in 1971.

That achievement was complemented by two Munster Senior Club Hurling medals, four Tipperary Senior Hurling Championships and six North Tipperary Senior Hurling titles, along with an extensive collection of underage honours.

"His contribution to hurling left a lasting legacy, and his achievements on the field will be fondly remembered by teammates, supporters and the wider GAA community across the county." said Tipperary GAA.

Tipperary GAA extended their deepest sympathies to Noel’s family, friends and all who mourn his passing.

His funeral took place on Friday morning last at 11.30am in St. Cronan's Church, Roscrea.
