LATEST: Special Needs School Bus Transport issue resolved ahead of new school semester

At the start of the 2026 school semester, the Cashel area was dealt a massive blow with the sudden loss of a bus for children with additional needs.
This situation left parents and children in distress, as their transportation to school was in limbo.
Thankfully, the situation has been resolved, as an alternative bus has been found as Councillor Liam Browne reported on his Facebook page
“Over the past number of days, I was made aware of the serious issue regarding the sudden loss of school bus transport for school children with additional needs, in the Cashel area.
“Since then, I have been working closely with the parents affected, the schools involved, and a number of alternative transport providers to find a solution as quickly as possible.
“I’m very glad to confirm that an alternative operator has now been secured. Parents are currently receiving emails outlining the new transport arrangements, and it is my hope that by the end of the weekend, every child’s needs will be fully met.
“If any family is still without an alternative arrangement after this update, please get in touch with me directly, and I will continue working to resolve any outstanding cases.
“I want to give special thanks to Edwina in FUSS for her tireless work and dedication over the past few days. Her commitment, along with the efforts of other parents, has been invaluable in ensuring that no child is left without support.
“I’ll keep at this until every family has certainty again, and I’m always here to help in whatever way I can.”
