Saints started well and had a shot come off the post early on. They won a number of corner kicks before Borris settled and came into the game, playing a nice passing game.

Borris almost went in front in the 35th minute when a great move from defence ended with a cross from Jamie Lee to Christy Bourke, whose shot at the back post was stopped on the line by a St Michael’s defender. Loud protests for handball were waved away by the officials.
The teams went in scoreless at half-time. The game swung from end to end, with both sides going for victory in an entertaining match and Borris had Josh Coady in goal to thank for a great save on the hour mark to keep the tie scoreless.

Loarn O’Toole had a good header from a Jamie Lee corner saved on the line with 10 minutes to go, as Borris pushed for the winner.
However, in the final minute Saints got the all-important goal to seal the title when a deflected cross fell to Ed O’Dywer on the six-yard line and he fired home the league winning goal to great celebrations from the large contingent of St Michael’s fans.
The Premier League trophy, sponsored by Clonmel Credit Union, was presented to St Michael’s captain Jimmy Carr after the game by TSDL Chairman Benny Tynan.
