Tipperary hurling legend Babs Keating a proud grandfather as Lauren shines in ladies football

Tipperary GAA legend Michael ‘Babs’ Keating and son-in-law Johnny Murtagh, the revered former jockey, were interested spectators in Nenagh on Saturday as Kildare advanced to the All-Ireland Minor B ladies football final.

Murtagh’s daughter Lauren picked up a second half yellow card but the Lilywhites still advanced on a 0-18 to 2-11 scoreline against Waterford at MacDonagh Park in Nenagh, prevailing by just a single point. 

Babs, an outstanding footballer as well as All Ireland winning hurler, looked on admiringly as Lauren showed skills he would have been proud of.

Captain Neasa Dooley led by example with a six-point haul as Kildare made it through to a very first B decider, while there were other strong displays from Nanci Murphy, Sarah Doyle and Molly Aspel.

Sarah Lacey and Clodagh Carroll netted for Waterford but it's Kildare who'll face Roscommon on July 15, after Michaela McHugh’s late goal sealed a 5-6 to 1-16 victory over Antrim at Monaghan Harps.

Aoife Gavin, Amy O’Connor and Louise Brady were among the goals for Roscommon in the first half, as they opened up a 4-3 to 1-5 interval lead.

But Antrim roared back and were level at 1-14 to 4-5, before McHugh settled the tie.

Roscommon, who were beaten finalists last year, will hope to go one step better when they tackle Kildare in the All-Ireland Minor B decider.
