The Killea community have been happily running this event for 15 years now and it is safe to say that there really is something for everyone from music, song, dance to the many field activities that keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

They say they are incredibly lucky that each year, they have a wealth of talented musicians, singers and dancers, who without fail, and always in jovial spirit, bring a wonderful atmosphere to the gig rig.

Just to name a few, these include the infamous Séan Ó Sé, Ned Kelly, Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band, local Comhaltas branches, Templemore Ladies Set Dancers, Emma’s School of Irish Dance, Killea Singing Circle and many many more from near and far.

From 11:30am, the village will be a hive of activity with the commencement of the tractor and vintage run.

Registration on the day is from 10:30am and everyone is welcome.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy lots of activities such as stock judging, pick a card, penalty shoot outs, fittest family, best dressed lady competition, hang tough, mouse racing, vintage shop, bouncy castles and face painting.

A warm welcome always awaits a visitor to Killea and fear not a cup of tea with local home baking available on the day together with barbeque, pancakes and milkshake stand.

Proceeds raised from the day ensure the village of Killea is maintained well throughout the year and the various community committees can continue their good work.

Each year a donation is given to a local charity.

This year Fr Francis Mission Fund has been chosen as the recipient.

There is a small charge of €5 per adult on the gate, with kids going free.

The organisers say they look forward to welcoming everyone to Killea on Sunday, and they hope that all visitors enjoy a great day out.
