RIP: Tributes paid to young mother killed in road tragedy as funeral details announced

The funeral details have been announced for young mother Victoria (Gabrielle) Donoghue after she was tragically killed in a traffic collision near Templemore on Sunday evening, March 8.

The young woman, aged in her early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by gardaí and emergency services after being struck by a car on the R502 at Ballinlassa, between Templemore and Templetuohy.

Gabrielle leaves behind a young son and a loving family. She will be reposing in Grey’s Funeral Home Templemore (E41Tr83) this Thursday the 12th of March 2026 from 2 pm with removal at 4 pm to the Church of the Sacred Heart Templemore to arrive at 5-30 pm. Requiem Mass will occur on Friday the 13th at 12 noon with interment in Roscrea cemetery afterwards.

Tributes have been pouring out to Gabrielle and her family following the tragic accident:

"Condolences to her Mam and Dad and family and Riecko who she adored. I was her SNA in Primary School, she was so bright at her Braille and helped me with it. Always in good humour and loved school. Will miss our chats in Lydl Victoria, lovely girl xxx"

"Thinking of you all, sorry for your heartbreaking loss. She was taken far too soon. Thinking of you and your family, and sending love, strength, and comfort during this incredibly difficult time. X"

"RIP gabby bad cruel world we're living in hope you got the best bed up there. Gabby watch over your mommy and father fly high cousin."

"Rip Gabby watch over your poor family only young girl what's the world coming to."

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them. Any road users who were travelling on this road at the time and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make it available to gardaí.
