Bikers gather for take-off
Templemore Bikers (approximately 80), will meet at Bourke's Costcutter on the Saturday 24th of March at 10am for breakfast before leaving on their journey to Crumlin Children's Hospital with containers of Easter Eggs for the children. The group will depart Bourke's at 11am and will arrive in Crumlin at around 1-30pm.
This is now the 7th annual Bike Run to the Children’s Hospital and they rely on voluntary donations of Easter eggs. Donation points are in Downe's Spar Templemore, O' Connell's Centra Templemore and Bourke's Costcutter Templemore. Tesco in Thurles have also very kindly offered to collect Easter egg donations this year.
Chief organiser Eamonn Grey says they will be delighted with any donations and have managed every year since 2011 to arrive in Crumlin Children’s Hospital with a sufficient amount of Easter Eggs for each child in the hospital and lately have enough left over to distribute to the other Children's Hospitals.
Eamonn says that last year they travelled with over 2000 Easter Eggs and the hospital now relies on the group and look forward to their arrival each year with the contingent of eggs.
He continued: “To see the excitement and the smiles on the faces of the children when they see and hear the bikes arrive and come out to meet them is magical. The children just love to touch the bikes and sit up on them. Seeing such happy faces on children who should be running around with no cares, puts all your problems into perspective - Motorbikes represent freedom and travel”.
Good luck to all and safe travelling.
