Liam and Stella Aherne, owners and operators of Aherne’s Londis Abbey Road, were delighted to recently unveil their newly refurbished store in Thurles town to their customers and community with a family-fun event.
The revamped store, following substantial investment, showcases a number of enhancements aimed at elevating the shopping experience for the local community.
On the day of the celebration, which also served as a ‘thank you’ to the community for their patience and patronage during the refurbishment works, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained, including a visit from Santa, Spin the Wheel, Face Painter, Balloon Modeller and lots of fun games before and after the official ribbon cutting. TippFM were on hand on the day broadcasting The Lunchtime Show live from the shop.

In addition, the revamped store offers an extended range of high-quality products, featuring new additions such as expertly led Bia Blas Deli, an expanded Bakery range, an extension to offer even more comfort to shoppers when perusing the aisles and a dedicated Dog Wash and Grooming station for the local pet-lovers.
Moreover, the store expansion has paved the way for the further job creation within the area, with Aherne’s Londis Abbey Road now providing employment to 32 people locally. Through their other two stores, Liam and Stella employ 67 people in total in Thurles.
Commenting, Stella Aherne said, “Thurles is a lovely community, and we wanted to say ‘Thank You’ to our customers, our neighbours and, most importantly, our friends who rely on us for their everyday needs and who have supported the store over the years and were so patient during the works. We are very much looking forward to serving the people of Thurles for many more years to come.”
Embedded within the community, Aherne’s Londis Abbey Road, is proud to continue to serve the local Thurles area and is open 7 days a week.
