John G O’Dwyer has been for much of his life a hiker, rock-climber and writer for the Irish Times about hillwalking and outdoor pursuits.

In Cabragh Wetlands Centre, Holycross, Thurles on Tuesday, November 25, at 7.30pm, the author of several acclaimed books on hiking and walking trails will give an illustrated talk titled, In High and Fragile Places.

As part of this talk, the Boherlahan man will recount his own experience of mountain climbing and hillwalking and how exploring green spaces was transformative for his personal wellbeing.

He will also focus on how upland environments are threatened by climate change, increasing footfall, human intervention and habitat loss before questioning how we should sustain our upland areas in the future.

Admission is free, but donations to the Cabragh Wetlands project will be most welcome. The talk will be followed by tea/coffee and tasty bites.
