Bookworm in Thurles recently hosted the Winter Recital by Ashraf & Anna Music School, bringing together students, teachers and members of the local community for an evening of live music and performance.
Students of various ages and backgrounds took to the stage, presenting a programme that included works from the classical repertoire alongside music from different traditions, including Azerbaijani composers.

For several performers, the recital marked their first public appearance, making the event both a milestone and a memorable experience.
The audience responded warmly, applauding the confidence, musicality and dedication shown by the young musicians.
Among those attending was Marion Daly, Regional Representative of the Examination Department of the Royal Irish Academy of Music, who praised the atmosphere of the event.
She described the school as a place where “the passion for music is truly contagious.”
Special recognition was given to Anna Stepanova, the school’s teacher, singer and saxophonist.

She is an artist of Selmer Paris, Silverstein Works, JLV Sound Paris and BG France, and Vice President of the International Golden Saxophone Competition.
Her dedication and artistic leadership were highlighted as central to the students’ development.
Ashraf Taghiyv, Principal of Ashraf & Anna Music School, noted the importance of providing young musicians in the region with opportunities to perform, gain confidence, and grow through live music.
The Winter Recital was warmly received and underlined the growing contribution of local music education to the cultural life of Thurles and county Tipperary.
