St Ailbe’s School, Tipperary Town, was delighted to host its 2026 Interschools Showjumping Competition at Garranemore Equestrian Centre, Pallasgreen, welcoming students, horses and ponies from schools throughout Munster for a memorable day of equestrian sport.

The competition was a tremendous success, attracting 170 entries from 40 schools. Competitors travelled from across the province, from Ennistymon in Co. Clare to Causeway in Co. Kerry, demonstrating the enthusiasm and commitment of young riders and their school communities.

The day featured a packed programme of individual and team competitions across the 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm classes. With the first 70cm competitors taking to the arena at 9.00am, the action continued throughout the day, with the final scheduled 100cm entries taking place from 3.06pm. An event of this scale takes considerable planning, preparation and teamwork. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to bring the competition together. Our staff, students, volunteers, families and supporters all played an important role in ensuring the day ran smoothly and that competitors and spectators enjoyed such a positive experience.

A very special thank you goes to Garranemore Equestrian Centre in Pallasgreen for generously providing the use of its facilities. We are extremely grateful for its support and for helping us create such a welcoming setting for the competition.

We would also like to thank all the schools throughout the region who participated. It was wonderful to welcome so many schools to the event and to see students come together through their shared passion for horses and showjumping. The distances travelled, the preparation involved and the enthusiasm shown by competitors and their supporters made the day particularly special.

Finally, we wish to thank all those who supported the event and contributed to its success. Every contribution, large or small, helped make the competition such a positive occasion for our school community and for visiting schools.

The 2026 St. Ailbe’s Interschools Showjumping Competition was a fantastic celebration of talent, teamwork and sporting spirit. We congratulate all our riders, thank everyone who helped make the day possible, and look forward to welcoming schools back for future competitions.
