BREAKING: Busy road closed in Limerick following serious collision overnight

A man is being treated for serious injuries following a collision on a busy road Tipperary to Limerick road overnight, with motorists warned that road closures remain in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic incident in the Ballysimon area, on the Tipperary road, that occurred shortly after midnight in the early hours of Wednesday March 12. 

Emergency services were alerted to a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the N24 at Miltown, near Killonan, at approximately 12:10am.

The collision occurred near the ESB substation, on the main Limerick to Tipperary road. Traffic is being diverted at Beary's cross roundabout through Caherconlish.

The pedestrian, a man, was transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick (UHL) for treatment of serious injuries.

The female driver was conveyed to hospital as a precaution.

The N24 is currently closed in both directions to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 11:30pm and 12:30am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
