Emergency services are continuing to tackle the Slievenamon wildfire, with dramatic new footage revealing the scale of the blaze.

Dramatic footage showing the scale of the wildfire on Slievenamon has emerged as emergency services continue efforts to bring the blaze under control.

The video shown below captures the intensity of the fire that has burned across parts of the mountain in recent days.

As the operations continue, Tipperary County Council has issued an urgent appeal to the public to stop flying drones near the area, warning that they are preventing aerial firefighting aircraft from operating safely.

The council said ariel resources are essential for tackling active fire locations, but aircraft cannot fly while unauthorised drones are in the airspace due to safety requirements.

Members of the public are also being urged to stay away from the area while emergency services, Coillte personnel and partner agencies continue to battle the fire.

“If you fly, we can’t. Drones in the vicinity of the fire are preventing aerial firefighting aircraft from operating. We urgently ask the public to keep the airspace clear and stay away from the area while emergency services continue to tackle the fire," stated a representative from Tipperary County Council.

The local authority said significant progress has been made in containing the Slievenamon fire, with the forestry plantation now protected.

Firefighting efforts are currently focused on extinguishing a limited number of remaining hotspots.

However, the council have stressed that the incident is not yet over, with active areas on Slievenamon bog near the summit continuing to cause concern.
