'One to keep an eye on' - Ireland at risk of storm amid big weather update
Ireland is on storm watch this week with the potential for some wild weather to hit later this week, according to forecasters.
Carlow Wearther forecaster Alan O'Reilly is watching weather models as the potential storm approaches and gave an update amid huge uncertainty on Tuesday.
He said: "Risk of low pressure system out to the West Saturday night. Weather models showing different tracks but some bring it close to Ireland with some strong gusts possible, others keep it further away. One to keep an eye on."
Meanwhile, Met Éireann is predicting "generally unsettled" weather with "wet and breezy weather at times. Mild with temperatures staying above the October average."
They haven't given a specific update on stormy weather but admit there is a risk of strong winds and rain at the weekend.
While they Saturday will start bright and "there is uncertainty in the forecast," they add that "at the moment it looks like there'll be a spell of wet and windy weather on Saturday night and for a time on Sunday."

Between now and then, we will experience a mixed bag on the weather front.
"Tuesday night will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain, heavy for a time in the northeast and east," Met Éireann says.
"There will be hill and coastal mist and fog too. Mild and humid with temperatures not falling below 11 to 14 degrees, in a light to moderate southeasterly wind, occasionally fresh and gusty early in the night.
"Wednesday morning will be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. This will linger in parts of the north and east through the day, but there will be a clearance to sunny spells and some showers across the south and west. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light to moderate southerly winds.
"Any remaining cloud and rain will clear from the northeast early on Wednesday night and the rest of the night will be dry in most areas with clear spells and patches of mist and fog. However, there'll be showers in some western and southern areas, some heavy. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southerly breezes.
"Mild with sunny spells and scattered showers [on Thursday], some heavy with a chance of thunder. The showers will become isolated by evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in light to moderate southerly or westerly breezes.
"Mostly dry with clear spells early on Thursday night, however cloud and outbreaks of rain will move into the west and will spread eastwards across the country overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds developing.
"Wet and breezy on Friday morning and afternoon as rain tracks eastwards across the country, turning heavy at times. A clearance to sunny spells and isolated showers in the west later in the afternoon will extend to all areas in the evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds, easing as the rain clears.
"Mostly dry with clear skies [on Friday night] but there will be a few showers in the west and northwest. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze," the weekly weather forecast from Met Éireann concludes.
