Met Éireann's Irish weather forecast for the weekend ahead has landed...

Monday: Any mist and fog will clear early on with sunny spells developing.

Most places will be dry with just a few patches of light rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures will range 9 to 15 degrees, coolest in the north and east, in moderate to fresh northeasterly winds.

National Outlook
Overview: High pressure dominating bringing plenty of dry weather overall. Through there will be some showers at times in a northeast airflow. Turning colder with some frosts at night.

Monday night: Dry overnight with long clear spells, though cloud and patchy drizzle may linger for a time near the south coast. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +4 degrees, with some frost, in light to moderate northeasterly breezes.

Tuesday: Good sunny spells, with scattered showers moving into northern parts later in the day. Staying mostly dry elsewhere.

A cold day with highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in a moderate north to northeasterly wind.

Tuesday night will bring clear spells, with the scattered showers in northern parts moving southwards and they could turn wintry in parts, especially on high ground. Cold with lowest temperatures of 0 to +4 degrees in moderate northerly breezes.

Wednesday will be breezy with sunny spells with some scattered showers, possibly of hail, or wintry on some hills in the east and north.

Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, mildest in the west, sheltered from the northeast breeze.

Chilly overnight with temperatures close to freezing and some frost. Largely dry but some wintry showers are possible near the east coast.

Further Outlook: Indications are that there will be plenty of dry weather through the rest of the week with little change in temperatures, though still a few showers feeding onto Irish Sea coasts.

Next weekend looks dry and cold with frost and fog at night and sunny spells by day.
