The ever-popular band Folk That will be a major attraction in Ballynonty on Saturday August 9
Nestled beneath majestic gentle slopes, the village of Ballynonty is all geared up for Festival 2025 featuring the return of popular group Folk That for its annual concert.
The charming village, which straddles the main Killenaule-Glengoole road, will take on a carnival-like atmosphere on Saturday and Sunday, August 9 and 10, with hundreds of festival fans expected to descend on the pristine community field.
Festooned in blue and gold to mark Tipperary’s All-Ireland success (team manager Liam Cahill hails from nearby Lickfinn), the village will reverberate to the sound of music on Saturday evening when Folk That take to the stage.

Now firmly established as one of Ireland’s leading acts on the traditional/folk/ballad circuit, their annual gigs go down a treat with Ballynonty audiences.
Band members reside in the locality so they are very much looking forward to meeting all their friends for a few hours of music and song. No doubt, they will produce something special to celebrate Tipperary’s All-Ireland glory.

The concert in the marquee starts at 8pm and follows another great family attraction, the kids’ disco (6pm start).
In keeping with the custom of previous years, the community field committee have decided to charge the very modest admission fee of €5 to Saturday’s events.
Patrons are reminded that tickets can be purchased at the venue on the evening of concert and barbecue, and a raffle will take place during the show for beautiful hampers and various prizes.
Mindful of the big demand for concert tickets, the festival organisers have advised patrons that there is ample parking space in the vicinity of the field and in the centre of the village.
Sunday August 10 will see the community field bedecked in an array of colours (not just blue and gold!) for what promises to be a special day for all ages and tastes.
The eagerly-awaited fancy dress parade provides the perfect colourful start to the festivities at 2pm, followed by another real favourite of the annual festival, the kids’ obstacle races at 2.30pm.
It will be followed by a dog show at 3pm and bingo at 4pm.
Among the many shows on offer for patrons to enjoy are face painting, tombola, flower stall, archery, train rides, barbeque, sale of work, a name the doll competition, sensory stall, candy floss and popcorn stalls, and garden stalls.
Proceeds from the festival will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the community field, which is ideally located in the heart of the village, opposite Crossroad café and close to the splendid Garden of Remembrance.
The field is in the safe and capable hands of the local community group, with the assistance of many willing helpers.
The local community is very proud of the special facility, which attracts hundreds of walking enthusiasts from all over county Tipperary and adjoining counties each week.
Local folk are profuse in their praise of those in charge of the amenity, while the committee is extremely grateful for the support, financial and otherwise, it has received from so many groups and individuals over the years.
That ongoing generous support for voluntary community work will be in evidence again on August 9/10 when large crowds descend on the village for one of the highlights on the summer 2025 social scene in the Premier County.
Full details on all events are available on the Ballynonty Community Field Facebook page.
