Family with strong Tipperary connection compete on RTE's Ireland's Fittest Family
A Waterford family with a massive Tipperary connection made it through to the quarter-finals of RTE's hit show Ireland's Fittest Family last weekend.
The O'Connell's beat of stiff competition in the opening episode of the delayed new series which is being shown on RTE One television every Saturday evening for the next few weeks.
This season, the Ireland's Fittest Family programme had a delayed start due to the untimely death of young contestant Cillian Flaherty.
The first episode was aired on Saturday, January 4 and saw the O’Connell family from Portlaw, Co.Waterford top the leaderboard and go straight into the quarter finals which will air in a few weeks time.
Mother Michelle O'Connell along with her three sons Jack, Ronan and Billy were put through her paces by their coach Davy Fitzgerald.

Michelle is the only daughter of Mickey Pollard originally from “Pollards Cross” Kilvemnon and niece of Joe Pollard and Kitty Gahan both of whom live in Mullinahone.
Portlaw GAA club has wished the family the best of luck and said they will be supporting the Waterford family all the way.
