On Monday morning last, February 17, two local ladies Rita Clohessy of Skehana and Clair Ryan of Cluain na Sheimre Two-Mil-Borris were on their morning walk through Clover Bog at 8am.
The women noticed that a horse - who was a regular friend at the bog gate was not there - and they were soon joined by three other men who had noticed that the horse was missing.
The two ladies carried out their search of the bog, discovering that the horse had fallen into a bog drain and was unable to set himself free.

They reported the news to the men nearby and with some quick thinking they went to a neighbour to tell them of the news.
Members of the family arrived and rescued the horse from the bog drain.
