Tipperary students are urged to check their eligibility for student grants
Tipperary students have been encouraged to apply for grants that they may be entitled to after eligibility expansions were announced this week.
The Department of Further Education announced expansions for the income limits for the Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) grants, opening them up to a wider cohort of students.
As part of Budget 2025, expansions to the student grant scheme were signaled, including an income expansion of at least 15%.

North Tipperary TD Michael Lowry has welcomed the news and has encouraged to check their eligibility under the scheme.
"The announcements by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless TD represent a further significant step in easing the financial burden on students attending Further and Higher Education says Deputy Lowry adding that the substantial increase in the thresholds for Grants means a greater number of students will now be eligible for grant support.
"The cost of having a student in Higher Education can be very difficult for families and every year these costs have been increasing. This has led to the expansion of the Scheme, significantly increasing the threshold to assist students and their families," Deputy Lowry added.

"Undergraduate students whose reckonable income is under €115,000 may now be eligible for support," the North Tipperary TD said.
