LIVE: Rescue helicopter called in following emergency near Tipperary border

The South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association received a call from An Garda Síochána at 11:11am on Sunday

The South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association received a call from An Garda Síochána at 11:11am on Sunday to assist an injured walker on the north ridge of Coumshingaun.

This section of the loop is proving to be very unforgiving on legs and ankles.

SEMRA said: "Rescue 117 lowered a winchman to assess the casualty and SEMRA members were on scene at 12:38pm to assist by operating the highline.

"The casualty was brought to Waterford airport and transferred from there to hospital by the National Ambulance Service.

"We wish the injured walker a speedy recovery."
