A young singer from Tipperary is settling back into her ordinary routine after having the opportunity to perform on Friday’s Late Late Toy Show on RTE.
After winning last year’s West and County Scór na bPáistí finals, Neasa Coen from Rossmore wowed audiences in Tipperary on Friday who tuned in to see the singer perform a song on the show.
Excitement was building around Rossmore NS and the parish of Clonoulty–Rossmore during the week in the leadup to Neasa’s appearance on the show. She also thanked her teacher, Therese Ryan, who has mentored her through all of her success.
When asked who influenced her singing career, she said her uncle Mícheál Coen.
Further influences include Piaras Ó Lorcáin, Amble, and Kingfishr.
Speaking with Neasa’s father Paudie, he said the show was a great experience for her. “She had a wonderful time and she made great friends,” he said.
The highlight of the show for Neasa was getting to meet her idols, Irish indie folk group Kingfishr.
Neasa was put into a girl group on the show with four other girls, who were from Antrim, Derry and Louth. Neasa’s group gave a spectacular performance singing the classic C'est La Vie by Irish girl group B*Witched.
Neasa proudly remembered her neighbour Dillon Quirke by wearing a jersey from the Dillon Quirke Foundation during her performance on the show.
“It meant a lot to her to represent the Dillon Quirke Foundation by wearing the jersey,” said Dad Paudie.
