A Tipperary teenager who battled Storm Bram in order to go ahead with her planned 50-hour protest outside the Dáil, has updated supporters on how the night went.
Fifteen year-old Cara Darmody began her protest yesterday morning at 10am and will sleep outside the Dáil until 12pm on Thursday.
The activist from Ardfinnan is protesting to demand real action for children with disabilities and their families, and to raise vital funds for Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland (AADI).

"Just letting you all know that I'm doing my best to battle Storm Bram!! I've put together the Coalition of the Opposition again, and I'm so grateful for all their support!! My 2 hour Dail debate on Assessments of Needs is still going on right now in the Dail chamber as l type this!!!

And then, the greatest honour of my life - the apolitical Ceann Comhairle invited me inside Leinster House as the guest of honour to turn on the Oireachtas Christmas lights!!! OMG I'm still in shock about being asked to do that!!!
"And who did I meet at the event, only the Taoiseach!! You should have been the fly on the wall for that chat!!
Now you'll have to excuse me, I have a storm to beat tonight!!!"
This morning Cara gave another update to supporters saying that she had officially survived a whole day out in Storm Bram.
