Funding for Greenways and more active travel options will help make Tipperary a healthier and more sustainable place to live, said a Tipperary TD today.
Fine Gael Deputy Michael Murphy, who is one of three TD's in the Tipperary South constituency, said the funding of €4,500,000 will be used for the development of walking and cycling projects in Tipperary that offer safe, sustainable and healthy transport options to communities.
“I’m delighted to see funding of €4,500,000 for Tipperary. This funding will go a long way to help make our communities safer for cyclists and pedestrians.

“The funding will allow for the delivery of active travel infrastructure on national roads and help progress the National Cycle Network to deliver safer travel between our towns and cities.
“Greenways have been a vital addition for communities across Ireland, through supporting local businesses, encouraging tourism, and encouraging people in the community to get active.
“This funding will ensure improved public spaces for the community to enjoy, and an environment where people can choose more sustainable travel for their journeys.

“Across the country €360 million funding has been announced for Active Travel and Greenways in 2026 and this will benefit communities right across the country.
“I look forward to seeing what Tipperary County Council will do with this funding to help make our community more active.
“Fine Gael is committed to expanding sustainable transport options and delivering safe and accessible walking and cycling paths,” concluded Deputy Michael Murphy.
