A legend!

After 27 years as a postman and many of which were spent with the people of Ardfiinan Tom Parker will be set to retire next February.

As part of his pre-retirement he has left his Ardfinnan round and returned to Clonmel.

Tom is known to all here in the village and will be missed along with his smile and his endless happy demeanor as he delivered the post.

He could be often seen enjoying his lunch on the village green when the weather permitted and was a great friend to ex-postman Michael O'Brien whom he often drank tea with and traded stories.

On Friday, Cllr Michael Murphy said: "A privilege to attend a very special send off earlier in Ardfinnan for the extraordinary Tom Parker, postman of 27 years in the parish.

"Wishing you the very best Tom, such a positive force in the village for so long.

"The incredible turn out was testament to the esteem in which you’re held by one and all."
