Double delight for Tipperary rugby as Clonmel and Kilfeacle scoop Munster awards
Kilfeacle & District were crowned Junior Club of the Year following a trophy-laden season, while Clonmel RFC's thriving underage set-up was also recognised
Two Tipperary rugby clubs were among the winners, with Kilfeacle & District RFC and Clonmel RFC both receiving recognition following hugely successful seasons.
Kilfeacle & District were named the Bank of Ireland Junior Club of the Year following an outstanding campaign which saw the club collect three pieces of silverware.
Their adult men's side captured the Munster Junior League, Garryowen Cup and Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup during a memorable season.
Kilfeacle also made their mark on the national stage, reaching the semi-finals of the Energia All-Ireland Provincial League before being narrowly beaten 36-28 by Leinster Junior Cup champions Boyne.
There was further recognition for the club at representative level, with Patrick O'Connor and Cathal O'Mara both receiving call-ups to the Munster U19s.
The award also reflects Kilfeacle's considerable investment in its underage structures in recent years, with many members of the current adult team having progressed through the club's own underage ranks.
Clonmel RFC were also celebrating after being named Club Mini Section of the Year.
The club's Minis section has experienced significant growth over the past decade, increasing from approximately 70 children training on Saturday mornings to almost 200 players at times during the past season.
Led by Minis Coordinator Eamonn Dawson, Clonmel have a team of 36 coaches alongside a dedicated committee and numerous support coaches and volunteers.
Their annual U9 Spirit of Rugby Festival attracted 52 teams this year, while more than 150 children also attend the club's annual Munster Rugby Summer Camp. A successful U12 tour to Wales was another highlight of the past season as the club continued to build its thriving underage section.
