Caitlín Ryan from Tipperary swaps lives with Janelle from Laois this Wednesday

After three successful series for TG4 and Cúla4, the beloved children’s programme Mo Shaol Do Shaol returns with a new direction for its upcoming season.

In this innovative fourth series, 27 children with Gaeilge from completely different cultural backgrounds swap lives, offering viewers a unique window into each other's worlds.

On this Wednesday’s episode, Janelle from Co Laois and Caitlín Ryan from Clonoulty, Co Tipperary, will be swapping cultures.

Caitlín shares her love of horse riding, chess and piano, while Janelle shares her love of hurling, football, and volleyball.

Caitlín and Janelle share their heritage with one another, with Caitlín’s mother coming from Hungary and Janelle’s mother coming from Nigeria.

The girls take turns sharing food, drink, song and dance from one another’s cultures, learning a few words in each other’s languages along the way.

The series throughout is a swap of hobbies and lifestyles, as well as a swap of cultures and lives.

Two children from completely different cultures swap lives and see what it's like to spend a day in each other's shoes.

The series goes beyond swapping hobbies and lifestyles to explore something even more exciting: the diverse cultures and communities that make up modern Ireland.

In this innovative fourth series, children with Gaeilge from completely different cultural backgrounds swap lives, offering viewers a unique window into each other’s worlds.

Each episode introduces two children who know nothing about each other’s background.

This series features 27 different children acting as representatives for their nationalities and showing off the things they love most about their culture, all as Gaeilge.

From traditional festivals and colourful celebrations to distinctive clothing, delicious cuisine and unique customs, the series answers questions that matter to children: Who are our neighbours? Where do they come from? What games do they play? What interesting traditions do they cherish?

The result is a colourful and adventurous exploration that’s both challenging and rewarding for the participants, filled with the joy, curiosity and fun that has made Mo Shaol Do Shaol a favourite among Irish families.

This format is new territory for both the producers and TG4.

It celebrates Ireland’s cultural diversity while promoting understanding, empathy and friendship among the next generation.

‘Mo Shaol Do Shaol season 4 episode 11 will air on TG4 on Wednesday, June 10, at 6:30pm.

The episode is also available to view online on cula4.ie.
