He didn't shine as brightly as McGrath or McCarthy in attack, but his workrate and influence during various patches of the game were key.
He scored an incredible point from midfield with Tipp 0-11 to 0-7 down and taking on water, dispossessing Darragh Fitzgibbon before launching it over off his left.
He gave a delicate over-the-shoulder hand pass for a John McGrath score too, and just ran himself to a standstill, even though he wasn't involved much in the scoring stakes. He, as much as anyone, deserves his third All-Ireland medal.
