"Can't imagine how painful this is. Sending you lots of love," while another said: "So sorry about Charlie, heartbreaking he was a lovely boy. Thinking of you all and sending so much love."

One more reflected on the bond between pets and family, noting: "It breaks the heart when they leave us, it's so hard. They're such a part of the family, it hurts real bad. He was a beauty, run free sweet Charlie."

In a video message shared on Instagram, Una thanked her followers for their kind messages. She said: "I just want to come on here to say a massive thank you to all your kind messages of sympathy for the loss of our loved one, our little furry friend, my daddy’s shadow, Charlie who passed away."

She went on to reflect on the timing of the loss, adding: "It's a very difficult time of year for anyone to lose a loved one, it's hard at any time. There's a lot of pressure to be extra happy and Christmassy and all of that."
