Tipperary athlete breaks nine-year championship record at  national event

Tipperary's Joe Burke was one of the major success stories at the 123.ie National Juvenile Indoor Athetics Championships held in Athlone. 

The European Under 18 bronze medallist ran 21.64 seconds to win gold in the Boys Under 18 final, breaking a nine-year championship record.

It was another significant victory for the Templemore AC athlete, who looks to have a very bright future ahead of him.

Several national records and juvenile indoor championship records tumbled across the opening two days of action in Athlone.

The domestic indoor season concludes next Saturday, April 5, with the final day of the 123.ie National Juvenile Indoor Championships at TUS Athlone.
