The death has occurred of Richard Everard from Haarlem, The Netherlands, direct descendant of the original builders of Burncourt Castle.
Richard was well recognised for his scholarly work on the Everard family of Ireland, published in The Irish Genealogist.
Over many years he constructed a detailed and extensive history of the main branches of the Everards.
This was the result of many research trips to Ireland from his native Netherlands.
In 1988 the first segment of ‘The family of Everard’ appeared in The Irish Genealogist. A further four parts were published, the last being in 1994.
In November 2020 as part of the Community Council Digital Project, Richard sent heartwarming wishes to Burncourt as well as a history of the Castle which can be viewed on the Burncourt Youtube.
Richard’s daughter Renee is in regular contact with Burncourt and to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.
In 2022, Burncourt hosted Renee and a group of forty on a visit to the ancestral castle.
