Amove to provide insurance cover to Tidy Towns group in the county has been welcomed

A new initiative has been launched that will allow Tipperary County Council to provide insurance cover for local Tidy Towns groups, through a partnership with Irish Public Bodies (IPB) Insurance.

The initiative will be offered in the coming months and will be available to all eligible Tidy Towns groups across the county.
“I have seen first-hand the challenges that local Tidy Towns groups encounter in securing insurance cover, as well as the excessive cost of premiums.

“This is a step in the right direction to reduce the administration and financial burden and allow groups to apply their resources to keeping their communities clean, tidy, presentable and attractive for both residents and visitors alike,” according to Deputy Murphy.

“This is an issue I have been raising for some time and look forward to seeing it positively impact in every local community.
“I am confident it will prove successful and believe strong consideration should be given to extending the initiative to other forms of community groups,” continued Deputy Murphy.

“The initiative allows local authorities to offer insurance coverage to Tidy Town groups at no cost, thereby ensuring that this vital work can continue, bringing benefits to the community, and indeed the country, as a whole. The scheme is also an illustration of the effectiveness of the government’s insurance reform agenda.

“The implementation of the Action Plan for Insurance Reform has brought significant benefits to consumers, with insurance capacity now available in previously problematic areas, such as hospitality, leisure activities and community groups.

“I want to conclude by acknowledging the work of Irish Public Bodies in providing the required cover through the local authority and look forward to the roll-out of the scheme to Tidy Towns Groups across Tipperary in the coming months,” the Tipperary South TD added.
