Main Street, Carrick-on-Suir
Uisce Éireann has this week resumed its project to replace old water pipes in Carrick-on-Suir town centre, tackling leakage to ensure a stronger, more reliable water supply for the local community.
The utility began the task of replacing more than 1.7km of old pipes which were creating supply disruption in Carrick-on-Suir’s town centre last year as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme. Over 1.3km of water main has now been replaced.
Water mains replacement works resumed on Main Street this week and will move to Greystone Street in the coming weeks.
Prior to Christmas, works were completed along New Street, North Quay, Castle Lane, Bridge Street and West Gate.

Dave Murphy, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “We would like to extend our thanks for the continued support and patience of the local community in Carrick-on-Suir while these complex works progress.
"We acknowledge that replacing old pipes in the middle of the town is inconvenient. Our crews are making every effort to reduce disruption while we deliver these critical works as quickly and safely as possible.
“New, modern water mains are vital to ensure security of supply in Carrick-on-Suir now and into the future, with the long-term benefits far outweighing any short-term inconvenience.
“We are committed to delivering a more secure and reliable water supply to communities across Tipperary. These works in Carrick-on-Suir are part of that effort, ensuring fewer disruptions, improved water quality, and a network that’s fit for the future.”
