Works are set to take place to enhance the visitor experience of the Rock of Cashel
A popular Tipperary tourist attraction is set to undergo enhancements aimed at improving the visitor experience.
The works will take place on the Rock of Cashel, Fáilte Ireland announced this week, among an overall programme of works on attractions across Ireland’s Ancient East.
Enhancements to the Rock of Cashel will include improving visitor flow and experience through the Vicar's Choral and developing exterior interpretative elements, with completion expected in 2027, Fáilte Ireland said.

The works form part of the organisation’s key priority in 2025 of delivering a strong pipeline of tourism products to attract visitors to the region, motivating them to stay longer and explore further.
Delivering a robust range of practical supports to help tourism businesses tackle some of the immediate challenges and opportunities facing the sector is also a key priority for the upcoming year, Fáilte Ireland said.
Brian O’Flynn, Head of Ireland’s Ancient East at Fáilte Ireland said that visitor figures show the importance of investing in areas such as Ireland’s Ancient East.

“CSO Data shows that in 2023, Ireland's Ancient East welcomed 6.8 million visitors, with overseas tourists spending €1 billion, domestic tourists contributing €930 million, and Northern Irish visitors adding €205 million.
“These figures highlight the region's strong performance and the significant economic impact of tourism. Our ambition for the future of Ireland’s Ancient East is to build on this momentum in a sustainable manner,” Mr O’Flynn said.
