New chairperson of Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District is elected by members

Fianna Fáil Cllr Roger Kennedy has been elected as the new chairperson of the Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District during the district's annual meeting which was held today.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Roger Kennedy has been elected as the new chairperson of the Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District during the district's annual meeting which was held today.

A new chairperson and vice-chairperson have been elected by council members in the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District's annual meeting, which was held in Tipperary Town today. 

Fianna Fáil Cllr Roger Kennedy was election today as Cathaoirleach of the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District after receiving proposals from members at the meeting.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Micheál Anglim proposed that Cllr Kennedy be nominated for the position of chairperson in the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District.

Fine Gael Cllr Mary-Hanna Hourigan seconded the proposal saying: "He's a good advisor to all of us, he's a pleasure to work with and I look forward to working with him and he'll have our full support for the year ahead if selected."

Fine Gael Cllr Declan Burgess proposed Fine Gael Cllr Marie Murphy for the position of Leas-Chathaoirleach or vice-chairperson of the Municipal District.

"Everyone knows Marie is a very efficient councillor, always sharp and on the ball. It's a great privilege to support my party colleague and friend today" said Cllr Burgess.

The proposal was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Mary-Hanna Hourigan.

Sinn Fein Cllr Annemarie Ryan Shiner wished both of her colleagues well in their new roles while also stating she wished that there would be some sharing involved in the role in the future, to give every councillor a chance at being chair, if councillors could come together and discuss it.
