'A number of major faults were found'

The street light wiring in a Tipperary housing estate is "nearly 50 years old", it has been revealed.

Cllr Liam Browne said: "I spoke with the council regarding the street lights being out in the front section of Oliver Plunkett Park and was told that when initial work was done to find the source of the problem, a number of major faults were found.

"These are basically down to the age of the wiring and parts, as the lights are pretty much the original ones and nearly 50 years old.

"So there is no straight fix for them.

"This means new parts are being sourced, with a longer term view to upgrading and or replacing them.

"Sincerest apologies for the delay, but they are being worked on, you are not being forgotten."
